Play On Words
Play On Words Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) community-led nonprofit that believes confidence with words can spark change and empower individuals to step outside their comfort zones. We are committed to creating safe, supportive spaces that transform the way reading and writing are experienced in marginalized communities. By making learning enjoyable and engaging, we help participants retain skills, build confidence, and use writing as a tool for growth. Our mission is to reduce the literacy gap in Louisville’s inner city and equip young adults to freely express themselves, craft career stories they are proud of, and use their words to secure jobs, launch businesses, or create written art that sustains a livable wage

I Love Words Book Builder- Organize it. Write It. Publish it.
These workshops guide participants step by step in turning ideas into a finished book. They’ll learn how to outline, organize, and structure their writing while gaining practical tools for self-publishing leaving with both confidence and a clear plan to bring their story to life.
Winey Writing Workshops- Uncork creativity and let the stories flow
(WWW) make writing fun and approachable through monthly, hands-on sessions. From journaling to brainstorming skills and creative storytelling, participants build literacy skills, boost confidence, and leave with tools they can use for school, work, and self-expression in a safe, welcoming space.
Black Paperback Bookfair- Louisville’s gathering of stores that matter.
The Black Paperback Bookfair in Louisville, KY is a celebration of Black voices, culture, and creativity through the power of books. Bringing together authors, readers, and community members, the fair highlights stories that inspire, educate, and empower. From emerging writers to established voices, the event creates space for connection, discovery, and the joy of seeing Black stories centered and celebrated.
Resume Workshops- Resumes are stories of your success- let’s help you tell it right.
Resume building workshops strengthen literacy by teaching participants how to clearly express their skills and experiences in writing. They also boost self-confidence, helping individuals recognize their strengths and present themselves with pride in academic, professional, and personal opportunities.
